Lessons learned this week.

  • 1) Dreaming is better than doing.(Daddy)
Take for example installing a garbage disposal. It's done but I can't figure out how I ever thought it would be fun. I think it was the name "THE INSINKARATOR" that got me pumped. I lost motivation as soon as I disconnected the old plumbing. Nothing takes the wind out of my sails like the smell of sewer gas while hunkered down under a sink.

  • 2) Expect crying during fun outings or activities. (Kids and Parents)
The picture is worth the paragraph.

The family went to a park by the lake for a few hours on Saturday. The kids were not that bad but when we tell them it's time to go they are always surprised and think crying will change the bus departure. It never helped them stay longer in the past but maybe this time it will work. Nope. I told the little man I would post it so I had to.

Very nice place with awesome pavilions, nice restaurants, cool playground, and great beaches, paths, and docks.   It is strange being out without jackets in late Sept but Mommy is loving it! We put a new activity on our bucket list while watching the sail boats on the lake. Take a sailing lesson.

  • 3) Exercising...It is better to be consistent then try to make up for it in one session.(Mommy)
She is feeling the effects of her 2 month sabbatical and having difficulty moving this morning.
  • 4) Meeting motivated, competent, organized people makes me depressed. (Daddy)
Went to visit some suppliers this week for work. Their impression gave me depression. Especially when they say things like "we still have so far to go".

  •  5)  Never judge a movie by it's cover (the whole dang family)
We had a birthday this week (see past post for pictures). For part of the party we watched the worst CGI kids movie I have ever seen (I'm not kidding here) called "Donkey Xote". We liked "Shrek" and thought that this one was done with the same character voices and story spin. I am absolutely sure the cover was designed to look that way so unwitting people that don't have TV get conned into picking it up from Redbox. Wow it was bad! Bad acting, script, voices, morals. Bad, bad, bad. We just hoped through the whole thing it would get better or there would be some kind of redeeming quality. Didn't happen. Lesson learned. To make up for it Mommy and I watched "Man of La Mancha" after the kids went to bed.

Daddy is in the habit of getting up at 6am but this morning we ALL woke up at 6 so the kids would take a nap at 10am before 1pm church. I'll let you know how that turns out for us.
